Coon Pups by AtypicalAnimal Coon Pups by AtypicalAnimal
Two baby racoons from the auction, both male. I'm keeping the one on the right for myself, but the one on the left will be for sale once he's tanned. Trappers hate killing babies, so when I won them, even the auctioneer said something about the poor things (I forget exactly what, I was so caught up in the excitement of getting them).

I'm sorry, but the boy on the left didn't tan well. I have a picture of the finished product on a computer that I won't be able to retrieve for another couple of weeks. But I had to cut through the belly so it's flat, and not case skinned, and the tan itself is stiff and yellow-y. If you're still interested in him I can upload some new pictures and we'll talk from there. But it's not going to be a nice, soft cuddly fur. I'm sorry :(

Thanks for being honest, I'd still like to see him now. Will he still stay preserved ? it's a shame the tab didnt turn out well isn't there a way to tan it again and fix it a bit? I'm friends with a taxidermist so I might be able to fix him

He won't rot and insects won't eat him. He's still tanned, but the tan just isn't very good (the fur is fine, it's that the leather is stiff and even brittle in some spots). I'll get some pictures for you tomorrow evening if that's alright with you. It was a Rittelz tan, if your friend is familiar with it, and I think it was the pH that went bad because I didn't have any strips. I honestly don't know if Rittelz can be re-tanned. I could do some research and try, though, unless you'd like to get him as-is and see what you can do yourself? I'd love for him to go to a loving home. He's still a cutie.
